Lord Vader, Rise!!!

It has been a long arduous journey, but finally we have arrived at that point, where Anakin Skywalker was seduced by the Dark side and shifted the balance of power in the galaxy, forever. Or so it may seem, we of course know what happens after that. I waited, as I typically do with giant movie opening like this one, and caught a nice peaceful Monday afternoon matinee. So thus begins another summer of movie reviews by your truly, it has been awhile since anything worthwhile came out, the last movie I saw in the theatre was Hitch. Other movies I will be seeing & reviewing in the near future are; Millions, Madagascar, bomb the System, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Lords of Dogtown, and Cinderella Man. But back to the review of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Let’s get this out of the way, in no way shape or form were the prequels ever going to live up to the original series. We need to remember that when we saw the originals they were just that, original. The story was new and fresh, the characters, the scenery, the special effects, everything, that is why they have stood the test of time. Once we can get over that we can begin o appreciate the news movies and what they bring to the table.

I am also a believer in the first 2 movies of the new trilogy; I never hated them as much as everyone else did. On the other hand, I am not as big a fan of the newest installment as everyone else is. Many people are saying they enjoyed it so much because it wraps everything up and ties it into the original movies………..Well DUH?!?!?!?! What did you think it was going to do? Did you think Obi Wan was going to become King, the Emperor was going to die, and that Padme was going to have triplets? No you dummies, you knew the climactic ending was going to be the battle between Obi Wan and Anakin.

I do have to say though, that every time you go and see these movies in the theatre when that opening scene flashes STAR WARS and then the text begins to scroll and you hear that music a chill does go down your spine, there is an unbridled excitement with a movie series like this one, although the little bastard 3 yr old crying five seats away from me did not think so. I almost strangled the little bastard, but that is for a different time. The opening scene began with an edge of your seat type excitement. I was expecting this fierce battle scene as the Jedi’s fought their way onto the ship to save the Chancellor, but that is not what I received. For some reason all the effects seemed to smooth the excitement quickly wore off and I wanted them to get to the plot of the story much quicker than they did. Then the movie basically moved along as expected with all the twists and turns that we were expecting. Again the visual effects are so seamless now they hardly seem noticeable, and some times not worth it. Visually and editing wise the movies have lost all their skill, there was nothing that jumped out and stunned me.

As for the characters and for the actors, the roles were reversed in this Episode. Natalie Portman who is fabulous in everything she has ever done was absolutely dreadful (she definitely wins this years Bullock Award, named after the great Sandra Bullock (for worst lead actress). Not only did she act poorly, her character was poorly portrayed. Even though she is at a new point in her life, smitten with love for Anakin, Padme was the source of great strength and resolve turned into a quivering blubbering female in this movie. It was awful to watch this transformation of what was shaping up to be the best character in the entire series. On the other hand Hayden Christiansen gave a much better performance in this Episode. In Episode II is dialogue was forced and had no emotion. In this installment his transformation to the dark side was very good, you could feel the hate and anger in his character.

The best performance of the movie is by far Ian McDiarmid; he gives an Oscar worthy performance. The only other major nomination for actor to ever be given in the Star Wars movie was Alec Guinness, and now McDiarmid deserves it and should win. He makes the movie worth watching, ever scene he was in was riveting and you even see him reinvent himself to the dark side. In my estimation the biggest waste of talent, time and excitement was the use of Keisha Castle-Hughes. You say who was she? Well she was the Queen of Naboo who appeared in 2 scenes and how zero lines. Now you say, Kris Why is that disappointing? Well she is a terrific actress (Evidence is in Whale Rider, the best movie none of you have ever seen) and a big deal was made that she was going to be in it, replacing Portman as the new Queen of Naboo. There was hope that she may help launch her career with this role, but anything she did have to do with the movie must have hit the cutting room floor. Lastly, Ewan McGregor is steady, to me he strikes me as a constant supporting actor, his performance’s are always steady and never bad.

Now, for some things that I did think were very cool about the movie. The final part of the movie was very good. The two final fight scenes, both predictable, were very well done. I love the way Lucas called out his super fans who always challenged the fact that Hayden Christiansen was not tall enough to be Vader, his legs got cut off, so when he was rebuilt he can then be taller, as he appears in the original trilogy. Also, I loved Lucas’s ode to the James Whale classic Frankenstein. When Vader rips his arms out of the wrist locks on the table, ala Boris Karloff’s, it sent a chill through me; that was a great cinematic reference. And lastly, we deal with the last scene. This was a source of some controversy, many had heard and believed that Vader rising would be the last scene, and Lucas did keep us on the edge of our seats as to what would be the last scene. Luke being delivered to his Uncle Owen and then the family overlooking the Dual sunset, that was damned cool.

All in all I am glad it is finally over, or is it? That is another topic for another time. It completes the series, but by no means is it a great movie. The New Trilogy still cannot compare, as many expected, but it makes a nice complete set of movies. Star Wars geeks relax, stop pointing out trifling little plot holes. In fact many of those plot holes would not exist if you freaks did not love the original three movies so much. Lucas saw how much they meant to people so he gave his best effort to appease you people by producing the prequels as a way to explain everything that has happened. In doing so there were bound to be some details that did not connect, but if you would have left Lucas alone none of this would have ever happened.

The Weekend Wrap

Things we learned:

- Honestly, you could like his prequels and argue the merits over whether or not George Lucas is a great filmmaker, but I put him in the “Will Smith” category, that son of a bitch knows how to make money (people always downplay Will Smith’s acting & rapping talents, but the guy has loot, twice over in 20 years in the business). He made $17 million in the midnight showings alone, $50 million on Thursday total and weekend numbers were up over $100 million, the next 11 movies at the box office this weekend barely totaled $50 million together. I am going to see Lucas’s latest installment later today and I for one am very excited and will happily fork over my money, maybe even twice rather than seeing Monster in Law or Kicking & Screaming!!!

- Yes it was official; it has been 10 years since this overweight lad strolled the halls of The Castle on the Hill and graduated from the immortal Teaneck High School. There was a reunion Saturday night to prove it. I was unable to attend but I heard everyone had a good time. I hope that some people from sed reunion will become loyal readers of “The Wisdom” (that is what the kids are calling it these days) because they might have some funny an intriguing insights like Yurrie the Fucking Giant, Deuceluv, and D Rich.

- Martin, no matter how much you want to think or believe so we still own your ass and the city so nice they named it twice. The Yankees waltzed into fabled (ha-ha) Shea Stadium and promptly took 2 of 3 from the Metropolitans, proving once again that they are still the City’s number 1 team.

Things I liked:

- When I am right, and this weekend I received some affirmation that for once I was actually correct. Albeit only one game, many pundits believe that the difference in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals was the play of Brent Barry. And they all agree that this type of play from him is what the Spurs need off their bench in order to win the NBA Championship. During last summers free agent period I raved about how this was the steal of the signing period, the missing piece for the Spurs to return to championship glory. I was of course scoffed at by Dan Filowitz (A Great Jew):
The Spurs will not win unless they find an energy-booster like Stephen Jackson. Duncan is too even-keeled, and Parker and Ginobli are too foreign to rally the team when they are under duress. That is why they lost to the Lakers in the playoffs. I don't think that man is Brent Barry. We shall see Dan who proves to be right in this sorted affair. But I still believe Barry’s overall game is the spark the Spurs need of the bench to get Parker, Ginobili, and Bowen rest.

Things I disliked:

- Those freaking Middle Eastern dirtbags who were trying to attack Laura Bush. I do not have a whole lot to say about this, but it makes them look like complete idiots when they do shit like that, I guess it is kind of like when an American rants and raves about how much he hates foreign people…….wooops, my bad!!

- The season Finale of Desperate Housewives was this weekend. Now, while I have never seen the show and never plan on it, I know that it already has jumped the shark. Here is the tell tale sign that any show has jumped the shark. If in a season finale something happens where people get shot or a gun is involved and the show has nothing to do with cops and/or soldiers that show has gone off the deep end. In fact this also happened in The OC this past week on their season Finale. These shows are just fucking terrible and then they tried to heighten the dramatic by pulling shit like this.

- And in other TV Network News CBS and that genius Les Moonves has decided to cancel the best show on Television, Joan of Arcadia. The second season was not as sharp as the first, but they boldly went on to tackle new and racier subject matter. In its first season it was nominated for 3 Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and a won the ASCAP Award for best television show, and a year later it is cancelled? Huh, how is that again? There must be some new reality show coming out that they have to make room for. No, Kris they are coming out with a new show starring Jennifer Love-Hewitt called; Ghost Whisperer, will revolve around the life of a young newlywed (Love-Hewitt) who can communicate with the dead. Haven’t we seen this show before? Didn’t Anthony Michael Hall make a show like this and the same with Eliza Dushku? And what about that dude who had his own talk show who would communicate with the dead?

OLD SCHOOL RAP LYRIC OF THE WEEK:

You're rollin up smilin, but you can't come close

Redemption

I looked back at some of the things written on my website and others on the weekend of November 19th of last year and saw we all had a very grim view of the future of the NBA. The next time the Pacers visited Detroit some dope phoned in a bomb threat (which in the post 9/11 world is taken extremely seriously) and the game was delayed for almost two hours and cam close to being cancelled. The Malice at the Palace (which is a great name for the fight) put a black eye on a league that was already suffering from fan indifference, especially from the upper class white community who supports a majority of the league through merchandising, advertising, and attendance. People felt that the black “thugs” in the NBA were truly living up, or down, to the class of citizen they were (and YES I am willing to go there and play the race card, let’s not fool ourselves people, when we talk about the NBA race is always a factor). However, we learn from all aspects of life, and the bible, that redemption is possible. And the Pacers and Pistons have achieved some level of that over the last two weeks.

This was a playoff series that NBA fans were looking toward. First off, these teams played a great series last year and that is where tensions began to rise in this rivalry. Then the fight happened and this became the most important rivalry in the league. People always say there will not be another ________ vs. ________ rivalry, but one always seems to come along. With all of the suspensions and a seemingly endless string of injuries to the Pacers they were not supposed to be able to compete in the East. However, Rick Carlisle did an amazing job and with the reigniting of Reggie Miller they made it to the playoffs. Coming into the playoffs the Pacers were still undermanned with starting PG Jamaal Tinsley coming off of an injury and Jermaine O’Neal clearly not healthy with a bad shoulder. Then Carlisle again doing a great job led his team past the Celtics and into this series with the hated, yet respected Pistons.

Going into this series the NBA was clearly worried about security issues, how could they not be when it is playoff time everyone gets revved up. But these two organizations led by classy general managers and classy coach’s put aside all their differences and played a great series. Now one can argue over the merits of “east coast” or “plodding” basketball, but us guys who like the league say it is great defense. And it is great defense, each of these teams make you earn your baskets, they will challenge all of your shots and not give you a free ride to the hoop. This time around though both teams played it very clean, where it could have gotten very dirty. Yes there were some hard fouls and a staring match or two, but that is what testosterone driven men do. In the 6 games there were 7 technical fouls handed out and one flagrant, which is not bad at all in a playoff series. The teams fought hard, but played clean and had one heck of a series. However, that night in the Palace many fans were lost on the current NBA.

I hate the fact that fans were lost, because I do like the NBA and the sport of basketball as a whole is a passion of mine (like The Family Guy & naked woman). I wish to pass on my love of that game to others, and last night I saw something that would make any sports fan truly proud. After all of this nonsense with these two teams this year, it ended on such a spontaneous and uplifting gesture. Everyone knew this was Reggie Miller’s last season, he had announced it a few months ago. Miller has been the face of his franchise for almost 2 decades, something that because more rare by the day in sports. We are nearing the end of the era where anyone will spend their whole careers with the same team; heck Michael Jordan couldn’t even do it. With about 39 seconds to go in the game, the Pistons Rip Hamilton was on the line with the game well in hand, the Indianapolis crowd began chanting, “REGGIE!!REGGIE!!,” Chauncey Billups embraced Miller and gave a word of encouragement, Tayshaun Prince patted him on the side and the chest and thanked him for being such a competitor, and then Rick Carlisle decided to make a substitution and let the fans give him one more standing ovation. Then Larry Brown (who a lot of the time can be a horse’s ass, but he usually does get it) decided to call a 30 second time out and called his team onto the court to give Miller a standing ovation, people that is why we watch sports right there. Listen, I am not the biggest Reggie Miller fan, but there are a few true facts about him: he played his tail off every time he stepped on the floor, he is a sure fire Hall of Fame players, he helped lead his team to some of their greatest moments in franchise history, and he has made tremendous contributions to the organization and the community as a whole. After the game Miller, alone stood at half court gesturing his love for the fans as the gestured back, and then simply walked off the court displaying the back of his Pacers jersey hanging off that wiry identifiable frame……………….#31 Miller.

The Real OC

Shavlik Randolph has sent me way over the edge and has officially put this years draft in the OC category (Outta Control). Every year this same crap happens. All these no talent ass clowns declare for the draft, what is worse is half of them wind up staying in the draft and not getting picked. They have basically a fool proof system, they allow you to not sign with an agent and see where you are going to be drafted, and four days before the draft you can decided to go back to college. This is of course if you do not sign an agent. The other snag in the system is you can only test the waters once, the second time you declare you have no choice but to go.

This is what is happening to Brandon Bass. Now every SEC Coach is happy to see him leave, but had he not tested the waters last year when he had no chance he could have tested the waters this year to see that he is most likely a mid second round pick. In fact one site I know and trust has him listed as the 32nd pick, in the 2006 Draft!!!! I found 8 more players who have declared for this years draft who are all predicted as non lottery and second round picks in next years draft; Jarrett Jack, Ike Diogu, Dee Brown, Torin Francis, Matt Walsh, Eric Williams, Steven Smith, and James White.

So far this season 53 college players have declared for the draft. Thankfully only 19 of them have hired an agent. But that does not mean that the others will not remain in the draft. What I do not understand is truly what are these guys thinking. Some of my favorites include; Olu Famitimi who has not played more than 25 MPG during his 2 seasons at Arkansas. Torin Francis who’s scoring average has actually gone down in his collegiate career. Then there is his Notre Dame teammate Dennis Lattimore (whom I have never heard of before) who in 3 seasons at Notre Dame has scored a robust 340 total points, for a career average of 3.9 ppg. Then there is TJ Parker of Northwestern who has the Torin Francis syndrome of dropping scoring averages throughout his career. Another character that I have rarely heard of, Chris Rodgers of Arizona who averaged 5.5 ppg in his 19 minutes per game. And of course the great Shavlik Randolph who’s 4.4 ppg and 4.3 rpg should really prove him worthy in the league.

You could easily be saying to yourself, hey fat man you have no idea what you are talking about. Look at the list of all the guys who have come out early and are stars in the league. And looking at this years NBA All-Stars you would be correct. The Eastern Conference squad contained only 2 four year college guys (Grant Hill & Ben Wallace), 7 Early Entry players (Arenas, V. Carter, Iverson, A. Jamison, Shaq, Pierce & D.Wade) and 2 high schoolers (J. O’Neal & LeBron). The West All Stars is horribly skewed 5 high schoolers (R. Lewis, KG, Kobeef, T-Mac & Amare), 2 Early Entry Guys (Ray Allen & Shawn Marion) and 2 four year guys (Nash & Duncan). So you would think, hey if their doing it, why can’t I?

Out of this seasons 24 All Stars 9 players were early entry guys and there were 7 players who came directly from high school. However, here is the key. Out of those 16 players 12 of them were top 10 picks. That is what we call the Lottery people. Only 3 were non lottery selections (Arenas and Lewis were early 2nd round picks, and Jermaine O’Neal was a mid 1st rounder). The one odd man out was Kobe, who was picked 13th, still in the lottery but not the top 10. So that tells me that these no talent ass clowns who are getting picked in the 20’s-60’s should probably just take their ass back to school. Heck half of them do not even make their teams.

Here is a list of non lottery early entry guys from last year. Christian Drejer, never actually played this year for the Nets that I can find, presumably he stayed in Spain and played, who knows? Kris Humphries contributed a big 4 ppg to a miserably averaged and injured ravaged Utah Jazz, he barely player double digit minutes. His teammate Kirk Snyder poured in 5 ppg. I actually thought the Jazz got 2 decent players, but initially their careers are starting slow. David Harrison played 17 mpg for the Pacers this season, but honestly with all their suspensions and injuries anyone who did not play on that team must be a miserable player (see Jonathan Bender & Scott Pollard). Then there is Kevin Martin, the NCAA’s leading scorer last year, who did not even make his team this season. Let us not forget about high schooler Robert Swift, who since being drafted by the Sonics seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. I tried searching his name and could not get any solid leads on his whereabouts.

Now onto more pressing matters that concern the NBA Draft. Which players I think are underrated and overrated? This year we are back off the foreign bandwagon, all foreigners suck, especially this tall skinny bum from Lithuania and the two Spaniards who are projected as Lottery picks. Again, only 4 foreigners were All Stars this year (Yao, The Big Z, Manu & Dirk Diggler). So poo poo on all European and South American floppy haired big nosed weirdo’s invading my league.

Here are some other overrate clowns. Chris Paul, I watched this guy play a lot and am just not sure what all the hype is about? To me he is vastly undersized for the pro game, he does not have consistent NBA range and he is a shoot first PG. whom I do not believe will get his shot off that easily in the league. Chris Taft, and believe me I know why everyone is in love with this guy. He is big, strong, athletic, and quick off the floor, however he lacks one ingredient, he does not have one ounce of toughness or fight in him. He will get pushed around by the NBA guys until he throws up the white flag. He also has zero face up game, and that is so necessary in the current NBA, you cannot be a strictly back to the basket player. Joey Graham, now I know my Big 12 correspondent may disagree slightly with this. I just do not see this guy translating into an NBA player. He has not natural position, not even in college, he was just bigger and stronger in college and he would impose his will on others all over the court. Maybe he can become a defensive specialist in the league, but offensively I do not see him scoring big in the league. Danny Granger of New Mexico is someone I just do not know a lot about. I remember him earlier in his career, but apparently he is going to be the first Senior chosen. Does he have the range and handling ability is what I question, we shall see.

Here are my underrated players; some of these are just personal favorites. Francisco Garcia is so far under the radar right now. I must have watched a different guy play ball this season; what I saw was a man who could play all 3 perimeter positions, can defend his ass off, know how to take over games and has all the intangible skills that you want. But again, maybe he is not foreign enough or young enough to drool over. Hakim Warrick, now this is just a guy I love watching play. Honestly, he is no different that Amare Stoudamire when he came into the league. Yes he is skinny, but he can explode off the floor, he is ultra quick, and has decent handles and can face the basket and shoot at a good 18 feet. Lastly, I am still on the Lawrence Roberts bandwagon. I know people will say he is undersized, and while that may be true he is certainly as talented as Drew Gooden or Carlos Boozer both of whom hare carving out careers as undersized PF’s. I have seen Roberts just take over games with his physical ability to control things on the glass both offensively and defensively.

Wow this is a really long and boring entry. Some of you know how worked up I get over issues like these. My head only fell of 3 times while writing this garbage!!!

The Weekend Wrap

Things we learned:

- Dave Chapelle you so crazy!!! Not sure what is exactly going on with this dude? He did not like the direction of his own show, the one he has creative control over? That seems a little weird to me. Now don’t get me wrong, I love this dude and think he is a fucking riot but something else is wrong, he has been smoking some bad weed or some shit. I hope that he reconciles his differences with himself and gets back to making television I really enjoy.

- Finally the second round of the Playoffs has been paying off over the last 4 days. It once appeared as if all these series would be blowouts, and outside of the Heat and Wiz series that are shaping up as great series. The Pacers/Pistons is an absolute war. Much like it was last season, but this season there is such an added incentive after what happened in November. The tension at these games is so high, you feel like one night during a timeout you might see Larry Bird and Joe Dumars get out there and start going at each other. The Seattle Sonics and Coach Nate McMillan are keeping the impossible dream alive right now. They were down 2-0 going back home; they had lost their 3rd leading scorer, Ray Allen was playing on a bum ankle, and Rashard Lewis missed Game 4 (their 2nd leading scorer). All of this while playing the battle tested playoff savvy San Antonio Spurs. Everyone gave them up for dead, but McMillan has found a way to get the most out of every player on his bench, and that means the likes of Damien Willkins (who was a bad SEC player, why he is in the pro’s I am not sure), Reggie Evans, and Vitaly Potapenko. And finally the series that never saw a shot it didn’t like, or the White Boy series!!! That’s right black guys, where taking it back. MVP Steve Nash has played balls out, with a 48 point explosion last night & a 27 pt 17 ass performance in a Game 3 victory. Dirk Nowitzki is carrying his team every single night, hitting big shots every time the Mavs need it. This one is going 7 glorious games.

Things I Disliked:

- The fact that Monster in Law was #1 at the box office this weekend earning $24 million. This movie stars Jennifer Lopez and Hanoi Jane Fonda. The only four words that make me want to see a movie less are: Sandra Bullock & Hugh Grant!!! I know I had a post a few weeks ago about this, but the other superstar openers this weekend were Kicking & Screaming and Unleashed (where Jet Li was a dog and is now a human?). People turned out in big numbers last week to see Kingdom of Heaven and it had a 51% drop off this week, which means people did not like it and told their friends to stay away, and were rarely going back for a second look. The one bit of encouraging news was that box office numbers have been way down over the last 3 months which will hopefully indicate to studios that they are making pure crap!!

- Again this is a repeat complaint, but I am now on a quest. After watching tons of NBA playoff action this weekend I am again tired of the official whining!!! The 2 biggest cry babies since Jordan retired are in the same series, Reggie Miller and the ever loveable Rasheed Wallace. Reggie complains before the game evens starts, except he is a likeable veteran and he puts his arm around the officials waste when he complains. You know what, throw ‘em out of the game, I have no use for this shit, I hate it hate it hate it. Rasheed actually caught the ball in the post, turned and complained to the official then made his move and missed an open lay up attempt in Game 3, and then complained the entire way down the floor. Then you have Manu Ginobili falling down like he got shot every time he draws contact. Ben Wallace is built like a brick shithouse and when Jeff Foster bumps him he falls to the ground and then complains he did not get the call. Sorry I always have to get that off my chest come playoff time.

Things I liked:

- How about those Damned Yankees? Eight in a row is pretty damned impressive. And I would say their starting pitching is not all the way around yet, they still had some mediocre performances. Tino Martinez for president. They should have never let this guy go in favor of Roidy Giambi. Now they have both of them and Tino is playing his way into the All Star Game.

- Greeneville, North Carolina. That is a pretty cool place. I was up there visiting some people I know who work at East Carolina University. The town itself is in the middle of fucking nowhere, but the college and the atmosphere surrounding it are pretty damned cool. The girl to guy ratio is 3 to 1, even guys like me can get ass in a town like that. And most of the women there are pretty damned hot, at least the ones I saw!!!

DID YOU KNOW OF THE WEEK?

Annika Sorenstam is the most dominant athlete on the planet in her sports, it is that simple. She just won her 60th tournament, by 10 easy strokes. She was never even challenged in this tournament; she played 3 bogey free rounds, that is next to impossible. This is her 6th victory in the last 7 events she has been in, and won 31 tournaments over the last 4 ½ years.

The Weekend Wrap

Things we learned:

- Big George Steinbrenner right now can’t get a winner in anything. His horse, which was a huge favorite in the horsy race, finished a highly disappointing seventh. Money can’t bye everything, remember that kids!!

- Apparently Jennifer Garner is 3 months pregnant with Ben Affleck’s baby. Congrats Ben, your boys can swim. The tabloids are going to have a blast with this one. Really, I could care less, but I happened to be watching an SNL rerun on E! And all of a sudden they broke into the program with this “breaking news” that Garner had a bun in the oven. I was disappointed, when they say breaking news I want to hear something cool, like Charlie Sheen has been on a four day Cocaine and hooker binge, or someone has decided to blow up the Viper Room with stars such as Vin Diesel, Colin Farrell, and Christina Aguilera inside of it.

- Every NBA playoff game is now going to be a blowout. This just in, when you have Shaq or Tim Duncan chances are you are going to win the game by a whole bunch of points. Seven games series seem to reveal the better team more often than not, which is what we are getting in this years playoffs.

Things I liked:

- VH1 always redeems itself with some quality programming. This weekend they were running a new episode of a series of theirs called “When Jerry Springer Ruled the World.” It is s show that covers pop phenomenons and when they were big in the world. It showed a lot about the Springer show that people did not know, and how intelligent Mr. Springer actually is.

- The opening sequence of this week’s Family Guy was the best 2 minutes in the history of television. I was on the ground in tears. Again I was slightly disappointed with the lack of secondary characters like Quagmire, Cleveland, and Joe Swanson. Again I thought American Dad showed some potential, it is slow at some points, but I am willing to give it time, no different than Futurama, which is no Simpsons but it is damned funny. Plus the line of the month was on American Dad, when the one kid said “my sister was horribly burned in an accident, only her taint survived.” That is fucking funny.

Things I Disliked:

- I found out this weekend that Tuesday is Confederate Memorial day. Not that that isn’t bad enough, these clowns around here actually give a fair amount of state employees off for this “holiday.”

- So many things about this damned horse race.

First of all Trainer Nick Zito had five horses competing in the race. Huh, how is that again? Seriously folks, that is like saying Mel Stottelmyre is the Pitching Coach for the Yankees and the Brewers. Or you know what, I want to be the Defensive Backs coach for the Patriots but also coordinate the Defense for the Seahawks. How could this guy honestly make a commitment to an owner? He is not the only guy; some other trainer had three horses. This stuff also smack of conspiracy, which brings me to my next point.

Basically this other trainer colluded with some owners to try and run the Derby favorite out of the race in the first half mile. They paid to enter a horse who breaks super fast from the gate because they knew Bellamy Road would try and run with the other horse and get tired. They talked about this on NBC before the race, and said it was all legal and part of the strategy, basically that is cheating, much like doing Steroids in baseball, but they are horses and we love all of them. Which again, leads me to the next point.

Can all these ridiculous horse people stop talking about these animals as if they were humans? All you here about is how this horse has such a great personality and a competitive desire, and such a huge heart. This is false, these animals have no concept of such things, they have a brain the size of my fingernail. They have no powers of cognitive reasoning; they do not understand what is going on. These animals understand 2 things, feed me and give me some pussy, that’s it that’s the list!!!

Why do the trainers have to walk all the way with the horses down a muddy dirty track in their nice suites to the paddock where the horses get saddled? What is worse is these damn guys are basically sprinting to keep up with the horses and NBC insists on interviewing these guys on the move. These interviews are brutal, the guy is usually panting during the interview and the reporter can usually barely keep up. How about go down to the paddock and wait on the damned horses. While you do let some asswipe from NBC interview you.

Damn the Kentucky Derby!!!!!

DID YOU KNOW OF THE WEEK?

A new study is out revealing the most popular baby names of 2004. Some boys names are still holding on, like William, Joseph, Michael, and Mathew, but it seems Ethan and Jacob are closing fast. On the girl’s side, it is up for grabs; Emma, Madison, Olivia, Hannah, Abigail, and Isabella have taken over the world. The only traditional name left on the girls list would be Elizabeth. These names are getting out of control.

And one other thing, gentlemen we have lost another one. Martin A. Kester has decided it is time for him to become one of them, that’s right, a Husband!!!! What a dreadful word, but if that is what Martin wants, that is what Martin gets. Married guys who read this sight, feel free to give him warning, I mean advice now.

The Daily Nooner

- Here are the top 5 reasons why Horse Racing is not a sport and why horses are not athletes. Dateline: LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Kentucky Derby contender Consolidator was retired Monday because of a fractured bone in his right front ankle. This is an actual headline, one of the 3 favorites for the most important race in the sport retires 6 days before the event because of a broken ankle. What is this shit? Tough it you fucking pussy. And what about retiring? Done, that’s it for your career, one ankle injury and your done? No wonder nobody watches this fucking shit. Yes I know that is only one reason, but it is dumb enough to be 5.

- What about this whore in Georgia? This lady is a fucking joke. The only bigger joke than her is this dude who still wants to marry her. Hey pal, did the fake kidnapping not give it way. She doesn’t want you. Heck, even I would take that hint, and I am terrible at taking hints. This guy must be some kind of loser if he is still going to go through with it. Now I know some will say her family his stinking rich, but with what just happened one would think her daddy has some rich lawyer who will make sure that in the pre-nuptial that this guy gets nothing once they eventually get divorced. Imagine if a guy pulled a stunt like this? He would be getting killed by woman and woman activists all across the country.

- What does Allen Iverson have to do to be loved? Really at this point anyone who cannot just flat out appreciate his basketball skill needs to be shot. Honestly, have you ever watched this guy play? He lays it on the line like nobody I have ever seen. The best comparison you can make is Larry Bird. He will do anything to win the game, whatever it takes. I know you will say, “Hey fatso, his team is not winning, they are down 3-1.” True, but not because of this dude. Heck the other day he had 37 points and 15 assists. That means he was directly involved in 67 of his teams points. You people are well aware of the fact that Samuel Dalembert and Willie Green are on his team, please give this guy a fighting chance. (Turd don’t give me some Philly talk about how much Dalembert has improved, he is averaging the very same 8 pts and 7 rebs as he did last year)

- Hey I went all weekend without hearing some new story about what Curt Schilling said today. All this talk of these older pitchers who are future Hall of Famer’s has made me think about where these guys rank. Over the weekend I heard 3 separate discussions by experts on this subject. Without going into to much detail I will take the time to tell you where they rank. Roger Clemens, Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, Curt Schilling, and Andy Pettitte. The latter 4 borderline 1st ballot guys. Look the stats up yourself, well I already have and I am telling you that is the order.

AND

- Kellen Winslow Jr has now hurt himself in a motorcycle accident and may miss part of this season. In fact the Cleveland Browns are concerned that he might have re-injured his surgically repaired right knee. Well let me be the first to say, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. This guy is such a loser it is sickening. He had the same attitude that Terrell Owens or Randy Moss has, except he had it while being a Tight End in college. Hey pal, do something in the league before you start running your trap all the damn time.

The Return of the Product

This Sunday morning I arose from my nightly slumber with an unusual feeling of joy and excitement leading into the day. The sun beamed across my room as I slowly opened my eyes, and I gazed out the window at the awaiting day. What was it that I was so excited about? As I listened to the wind whistle through the tree tops and the morning dew glistened gently on the blades of grass below, the song of the sparrow sang in the background I glanced across the room and noticed the date, May the first. Ah yes the dawn of a new month, a time of renewal and signs that the awaiting summer season is just around the corner.

But again all of these good things would really be of no consequence to me, I hate everything. Why was I, Kris DeBlasio the worlds most spiteful and hatred driven human being, actually excited about the impeding day? Could it be the fact that I had to work for 6 hours on a beautiful Sunday afternoon? Certainly that was not it. Then finally while doing some chores around the house, I realized, May 1, The Return of the Product!!!!!!

The Fox network in what could only be described as the best move in the history of network television was reviving the funniest animate show to ever grace our airwaves, Family Guy. The show that follows the mishaps and misfortunes of everyone’s favorite Rhode Islander’s, the Griffin family. Finally after years of conjecture and hearsay (those are kinds of evidence) the day of redemption had finally come. After a collection of DVD’s of the only 49 episodes sold faster than almost any other DVD Box Set and a petition with over 110,000 signatures, Seth MacFarlane’s genius creation was back. Proving once again that while the terrorists gave it there best efforts, they by no means have won and they will never dictate how we can live our lives. Now the FCC on the other hand, may have some say, but not anymore.

Along with the rebirth of Family Guy, MacFarlane’s other new series, American Dad also premiered Sunday night. Oh how my day, heck my life was more complete now that this day was upon us. Peter Griffin did not disappoint in his first effort in 3 years, and American Dad showed some potential. I have been yearning for some freshly written sitcoms, rather than 7800 more reality shows, or Cop or Medical dramas. While Hollywood’s choice of movies this summer is much to my dismay, the rebirth experienced tonight on Fox has me geaked up for summer television, this and baseball
