The Return of the Product
This Sunday morning I arose from my nightly slumber with an unusual feeling of joy and excitement leading into the day. The sun beamed across my room as I slowly opened my eyes, and I gazed out the window at the awaiting day. What was it that I was so excited about? As I listened to the wind whistle through the tree tops and the morning dew glistened gently on the blades of grass below, the song of the sparrow sang in the background I glanced across the room and noticed the date, May the first. Ah yes the dawn of a new month, a time of renewal and signs that the awaiting summer season is just around the corner.
But again all of these good things would really be of no consequence to me, I hate everything. Why was I, Kris DeBlasio the worlds most spiteful and hatred driven human being, actually excited about the impeding day? Could it be the fact that I had to work for 6 hours on a beautiful Sunday afternoon? Certainly that was not it. Then finally while doing some chores around the house, I realized, May 1, The Return of the Product!!!!!!
The Fox network in what could only be described as the best move in the history of network television was reviving the funniest animate show to ever grace our airwaves, Family Guy. The show that follows the mishaps and misfortunes of everyone’s favorite Rhode Islander’s, the Griffin family. Finally after years of conjecture and hearsay (those are kinds of evidence) the day of redemption had finally come. After a collection of DVD’s of the only 49 episodes sold faster than almost any other DVD Box Set and a petition with over 110,000 signatures, Seth MacFarlane’s genius creation was back. Proving once again that while the terrorists gave it there best efforts, they by no means have won and they will never dictate how we can live our lives. Now the FCC on the other hand, may have some say, but not anymore.
Along with the rebirth of Family Guy, MacFarlane’s other new series, American Dad also premiered Sunday night. Oh how my day, heck my life was more complete now that this day was upon us. Peter Griffin did not disappoint in his first effort in 3 years, and American Dad showed some potential. I have been yearning for some freshly written sitcoms, rather than 7800 more reality shows, or Cop or Medical dramas. While Hollywood’s choice of movies this summer is much to my dismay, the rebirth experienced tonight on Fox has me geaked up for summer television, this and baseball

Family Guy was great. Especially the part when Peter rattled off the names of every show that had come and gone on Fox since they were cancelled. Again, Stewie and Brian reminded me why I love that show so much. However, I watched the episode of American Dad that came on after the Super Bowl and I was happy with Family Guy the first time. I mean, American Dad is the same damn show with some minor changes, so for my money it's Family Guy all the way.
You mean American Idol has not quenched your thirst for great television????
"The Guy" didn't disappoint in its well-anticipated redebut. They did show a bit of rust with the lack of Quagmarie (OH!), but that's more than OK.
The real question is where are they going to put it in the lineup? On Sundays would be ideal, but the 4-headed monster that is 'Desperate Housewives' is a tough mountain to climb. Granted, they're going off the air soon for the season, but a return to the same time slot means a 9 p.m. slot is a tough battle because there are too many fat lonely housewives that identify with four fuckable actresses.
As for American Dad, I've got it on DVR but haven't watched it yet because I'm hesitant from the one after the Super Bowl. It wasn't funny at all and I could spend that 1/2 hour of my life watching Alias on DVR, reorganizing my sock drawer or thinking about masturbating for 25 minutes, touching myself and spending 3 and 1/2 minutes on the cleanup...
Pee Wee Herman OUT
First of all, excellent use of a Lionel Hutz reference in your blog. I too was very pleased with the episode. I was worried that like so many things all the anticipation would lead to disapointment. As my brothers girlfriend said "I've never seen a group of guys so excited about something." Best Part: When they went to the Black weatherman and he said "He gonna get it."
