My Absence

Rumors of my death were greatly exaggerated. The news reported Friday that the Pope had died, not some rambling fat man from South Carolina. I totally understand how people could get that confused. My delay in posting was obviously caused by the enormous amount of work that went into the Gamecocks winning the National Invitational Tournament. It included, as most of you know, an all expense paid trip to the city so nice they named it twice. The trip was good, everyone had fun and now I am back and certainly better than ever, refreshed and with a lot of things on my mind.

- The death of Pope John Paul II was a very sad day all across the world. The man was one of the 5 most important figures in the 20th century. To watch all the pageantry following his death is simply amazing, I cannot wait to watch the funeral Friday morning.

- Baseball has begun. Yeah yeah, Alex Sanchez got suspended for steroids but nobody really cares. Here is what matters: Jeter jacked a walk off against the Sawx, Pedro struck out 12, Beltran homered in his debut, the Indians have the most underrated staff in baseball, the Brewers still suck, and free agent acquisitions all over the league are making an immediate contribution. More to come on baseball in my preview issue coming later this week.

- The NCAA Tournament concluded in fabulous fashion. I of course was horribly wrong in my predictions, but what else is new. It was a very good tournament, but don’t let the pundits convince you this was the best championship ever. They say that every year. Now comes the fun part, the coaching changes and the ridiculous idiots declaring for the NBA draft. Three words for you, Pops Mensa Bosu.

- Golf is heating up especially this week as we get things cooking with The Masters. I am poised to watch every second of coverage this week. My boy Mickelson is getting his game cranked up, Tiger’s swing looks good, the Big E is coasting and Vijay is feverishly working on his game. Man I am so excited for this tournament. Then the next week I will personally be attending the Heritage Classic at Harbor Town in Hilton Head South Carolina. I could so use a vacation too!!

- Internet porn is better than ever. Can’t complain there!!

- The Great, and I do mean Great, Mitch Hedberg passed away on March 30. I know most of you have no clue who he is, but I assure he was a stand up comedy genius. Yes Martin, it is 100% true. He died of heart failure, and drugs were reported to be no factor in his death. He suffered from the same heart condition that brought his mother to an early death as well. He will be missed by everyone who enjoyed his humor. RIP Mitch.

- I was looking back on things over the past year and remembering all the fun we have had with this little website. How could we forget that pancake fight we had here in the office. Or remember the Tsunami, and how much I hated it. Then there was the website Christmas party, when Ted showed up with the Goat as his date. And remember what the stripper did with the goat? Wow, she was talented. I cannot wait for the big One Year Anniversary Bash to be held in a few weeks. Hopefully we can keep things going for at least another year. Or at least until the government figures me out. Oh boy, I’ve said too much.

Peace & Love,

KD
