The Daily Nooner
So in my hatred for all things having to do with the New York Metropolitans I wasn’t able to post last weeks On Campus segment. On Campus is clearly my favorite and most well researched segment each week and I apologize to those faithful readers of this column who use On Campus as part of their Saturday viewing guide. Better late than never, here is the outline of what On Campus would have looked like:
On Campus 10/21
5 Games to Watch:
#19 Rutgers vs. Pittsburgh
South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt
#23 Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma State
#18 Boise State vs. Idaho
#21 Wisconsin vs. Purdue
4 Players to See:
Chris Williams, WR New Mexico Sate-
Ian Johnson, RB Boise State-
Erik Ainge, QB Tennessee-
Oderick Turner, WR Pittsburgh-
Back to cooler news. Tonight promises to be one of the better nights of my life. You say, “Kris why would a random Monday in late October be such a great night?” Well one of my dreams is going to come true this evening. I am going to have a chance to go out and party with an under intelligent yet highly overpaid professional basketball player. We are going to go to strip clubs and spend hundreds maybe even thousands of this mans salary and I cannot wait. What’s even better, is whom the player is. If you could hang out with one NBA thug to go to strip clubs and party with is there anyone besides Stephen Jackson who would be at the top of your list? Nope, I didn’t think so, he is numero uno on my list. Be sure to check the bottom line on ESPN tonight to make sure me and Steph don’t have another “incident” at the strip club.
Lastly, everyone loves this Dennis Green rant from last week after his team blew the game to the Bears. And while that is a great rant, let us never forget the all time greatest coach’s rant. Yes it is Jim Mora, but no it is not the playoffs rant which for some reason more people remember, watch this clip from 1996 where Mora snaps after another pathetic loss by who New Orleans Aints;

In today's era, I've still gotta go with either Shawn Kemp or A.C. Green. With one, you know you're dealing with ladies of "loose morals" and with the other, all the hoes are for you since A.C. headed back to the hotel to beat off...
As for all time, who wouldn't want to party with Wilt? I mean, catching the fourth or fifth chick that doesn't follow into his room still was pretty good pickings...
Charlie Ward OUT
I was gonna say Rodman! Nobody is cooler with the ladies!!!
How'd it go with SJax? Did he feel privledged to be hanging out with a perished member of York College?
Hey that selfish Tiki played really selfish again last night. Over 100 yards rushing and NO TD's and this after being nearly knocked unconscious. Darn Selfish player! Only a selfish runningback would lead the NFL in rushing yards and not score a TD! Currently Ronde Baber has 2 more TD's then Tiki. Boy, he's overrated!
(this is dripping in sarcasm)
I actually think it will be a positive not a distraction. Nobody said that about Jerome Bettis last year, and his team only won the Super Bowl. Didn't seem like to much of a distraction. Besides with clowns like Plax and Shockey, you really think iki is the distraction on that team?? Please! Tiki's a stud. Just because you personally don't like the guy, don't let that cloud the facts that he's been the most productive back in the NFL the last 2+ seasons. Like him or not, he's a great back!
And offensive coordinators getting fired is just another way for coaches to save their jobs.... for the time being!
OK, you're not making sense. First you say he's overrated and a selfish football player, then you admit he's a very productive back. I could care less about how you feel about the guy in his personal life, but how can you correlate the fact that you personally don't like him to him not being very good? And Brandon Jacobs struggled mightily last year in short yardage situations. He converted maybe half of them. So yes, now he is worthy, whereas last year he was just a 4th round draft pick from a div 1-AA school. Tiki wasn't worthy of being a full time back for about 5 years. Get over it!
And the point I made about Shockey and Plax was that there's no way Tiki could be a distraction when those 2 guys creatate a dog and pony show every week. You think Strahan is more distracted by Tiki talking about retirement or Plax and Shockey publically dissing their QB and coaching staff? Plus this is not the first time Tiki has talked about retirement. He brought it up 3 years ago saying he feels like he's got about 3 years left, and then last year stated he's leaning towards retirement in the next year or two. So, no, this is not new, not news, and not a distraction!
And if you think Tiki is overrated and not that good because he doesn't score much or convert on short yardage, just where do you stand on Barry Sanders?? If that guy didn't break a 20 yard run, he wasn't scoring. I doubt you call him overrated. And I still want to know where you get the idea that Tiki doesn't run the ball between the tackles, that he only sweeps and goes down on the first hit??? The Giants aren't a sweeping team and almost never run that play....
Seriously, you have some misguided issues on the guy!
Hey just for shits and giggles. Let me list you all the RB's that have amassed 10,000 rushing yards and 5,000 receiving yards in the history of the NFL:
Marcus Allen
Marshal Faulk
and by years end: Tiki Barber
Zoltan,
You much like your buddy fail to comprehend. I never compared Tiki to Barry. I used Barry as an argument as a RB that didn't score inside the red zone. If you can recall, that was the biggest cry of the Sanders' fans. That Barry would move the ball down the field and Corey Sleshinger or Tom Vardell would get the TD. Squire used the fact that Tiki doesn't get the ball much in the redzone to mean he is overrated. Hence, my point, that it is not a very good argument to use, since Barry is probably the best running back to ever play the game. Who also retired much too young. And if you'd like to say that he COULD have rushed for over 20,000 yards had he not retired, then you also have to use that argument for Tiki. If he plays another 5 years, he would have over 15,000 rushing yards and 8,000 receiving yards. TD's or not, that's a first ballot HOFer. Works both ways!
